Paul Mathew

Founder-Facilitator – “CorporateTheatre”

Paul worked in Godrej for 21 years from 1981 to 2002, in Sales of Office Automation and Communication Products. From 1994 to 2002, he was the Regional Manager (South India) for the Prima Division. Before Godrej, he worked for a year in Avery India, as a Sales Executive

Paul was commissioned into the Indian Army in 1972. He resigned as a Captain in 1977, intending to take up a full time theatre career

Paul studied in a school where Theatre was part of the curriculum. He has been involved in theatre ever since, primarily as an actor, but also as actor-trainer and playwright. He has performed in a number of ad films, documentaries, as well as a few feature films and serials. Paul has over 47 years of theatre experience.

While leading teams in Godrej, Paul was struck by the realization that a theatre group instinctively manifests all the positive dynamics of a powerful, happy team that enjoys change and challenge.  He experimented with theatre techniques to develop similar traits among own teams in Godrej.  The results were positive and were noticed by other divisions, who also experimented with theatre-based workshops.  HR came to know about this and the entire Corporate HR team experienced the methodology.  Paul was invited by HR to the HR Network biennial meet.  He got an opportunity to make a short informal presentation on “theatre as a corporate training tool”.  The response was so encouraging that the thought of taking it up as a full time career dawned

Paul is a graduate in Sociology and History
